Lots of people don’t even know their phones can perform lots of wonders. Many just think it’s use for calls, taking pictures or browsing alone but guess what, you can also use your phone to remote your TV if you lost your TV remote. It is called a smart phone for a reason.
There are some phones that comes with Infrared blasters which is the key ingredient that will allow your phone to behave as a remote to work with the TV. Some of the phone’s with IR blasters are Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei P30 Pro, P40 Pro Plus ,Xiaomi Mi 11 series, Redmi K40 Pro etc.. we have lots of them that can be used as a remote control. An IR blasters is a device that emulates an infrared remote control to autonomously control a device that is normally controlled only by key presses on its remote control. The most common use of an IR blaster is to allow a recording device, such as a DVR or VCR, to change the channel on an external tuner, such as a cable box or satellite television receiver. (Google)
So, you should note that a phone with IR blaster is the one that can work for this purpose and if your phone doesn’t have, just go to Amazone and purchase an “IR blaster”.
Aslo note that, your TV must also be compatible with IR remote such as the smart TV.
To know If your device has an IR blaster.
1. Go to google play store on your device and search for IR test
2. Install it and then open
3. After it opens, it will analyse your device and tell you if your device has an IR blaster or not.
To control your TV with your Android phone.
1. Go-to the Google play store and install UNIVERSAL TV REMOTE CONTROL app.
2. Go to the UNIVERSAL TV REMOTE CONTROL app settings, out of all the options shown, select WIFI
3. Enter the IP address of you TV and connect your TV to the same WIFI
4. Select your TV brand/Type from the numerous selection offered
5. Turn on the TV from Power IR – Universal Remote Control application.
6.Point the Phone in direction of the TV and touch the function you want to perform
