Not everyone will have the cash to get a water resistant phone, but like seriously, it’s not a joke or a comedy at all when your phone fall inside water. It’s like a disaster. You develop mood swing sharply and if care isn’t taking one can develop an emergency headache especially if the phone is very cost.
Either the phone fall inside the sea, guiter filled with water, toilet or bathroom water, infact even if it’s just that water splashes on the phone’s screen, you know that it’s very hard for something good to come out of it. It’s highly possible that the phone might not work again. Even taking it to a phone engineer doesn’t guarantee that it’s going to work again but if you act quickly, you might save the life of that phone.
I know you might feel devastated or shocked and don’t know what to do next immediately the phone fall inside water but hey! You have to act quick here and as you know the longer your phone stay inside water, the lower the chances of getting it done.
Follow the below steps to survive the life of your phone before it gets out of hand.
1. Remove the phone from water as soon as possible. Even if it’s inside toilet water, preferably it’s WC, Dip in your have and remove the phone asap.
2. Turn the phone off. Even if the phone act normal immediately you remove it from water, still turn it off just Incase. Turning off the device ensures that water doesn’t reach and damage important phone parts. This is more likely to cause permanent damage. Turn it off and keep it off!
3. Disassemble the phone. Here, you should only remove what you know you can fix back yourself. You can remove the battery if it removable battery, remove the sim, memory card, back case, and screen guide. If it non-removable battery, do not try to force yourself to remove it. You will damage the phone and it might not work again.
Dry everything you remove with with paper towel or fan.
4. Make sure the exterior and the interior part of the phone is clean and dry. The interior part, that is the one’s you can’t remove can be dried with fan. You can use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly dry the inside of the phone.
Make sure every hole of the phone is dry. Some people can go to the extent of puting the phone inside a raw rice or silica gel and leave it for 2-3 days. This is because Rice is dry, and hence very good at absorbing humidity in the air, making the phone’s environment drier and helping dry out the device.
So the idea of using rice isn’t bad.
5. The last thing to do now is to summoned the courage here. Fix in all the things you removed and on the phone. If it on and work fine, then you’ve succeeded in restoring the life of your phone.
Though, you should watch the behavior of the phone for some days before concluding that it works fine.
Also, test all the components. Make a call to see if the microphone and earphone work, test the speaker, etc.
If with all the efforts and stress, it doesn’t work, just take the phone to an expert in phone repairing and let them try to help you fix it.
